Terms of Reference:

    1. The Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) is responsible for the HIV Specialty Residency Program.

    2. The RAC may delegate the teaching responsibility to the Program Coordinators or their delegates.

    3. The RAC must meet at least three times per year.

Activities:

    1. Review and approve major project proposal.

    2. Critique and approve the results of the residency project.

    3. Review rotations planned, proposed, and completed by the resident.

    4. Discuss, monitor, and implement actions related to recommendations for improvement of the program.

Responsibilities of Members:

    1. The Program Coordinators will be primarily responsible for the residency program.  The Coordinators are responsible for arranging the necessary meetings and distributing agendas and minutes.

    2. The resident will act as the RAC secretary of the committee.  The resident will prepare an activity report and evaluation of each rotation/preceptor and the preceptor will complete an evaluation form for the resident.  This information will be presented to the RAC on a regular basis.

    3. The Faculty Liaison will coordinate certification of the resident by the Faculty according to the following criteria:

      a) all rotations successfully completed

      b) project responsibilities completed according to predetermined time line

      c) mid- and final oral exams passed

    4. All members will provide feedback and support to the resident, and provide perspectives from their respective disciplines (i.e., medicine, nursing, administration) on the program. All RAC members are expected to:

      a) act as an advocate for the resident.

      b) provide expertise for the residency project (when possible) or identify other appropriate resources

      c) provide feedback and suggestions on improving current rotation sites, as well as identifying future potential rotation sites

      d) provide feedback and suggestions on the current structure of the residency program, and offer possibilities for future direction
