A joint program of the University
Health Network and McGill University Health Centre
The Immunodeficiency Clinic, University Health Network in
Toronto, and Immunodeficiency Service, McGill University
Health Centre in Montreal, are 2 of the largest, university-affiliated,
outpatient HIV clinics in Canada, serving together over 2500
patients per year. Primary and specialty care is provided
through a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach (including
medicine, pharmacy, nursing, social work, nutrition, and
psychology). Other priorities include clinical research,
outreach programs, and antiretroviral therapeutic drug monitoring.
This 12-month program will provide the resident with experience
in a variety of HIV clinical settings, with a focus on ambulatory
care (other rotations include inpatient services, community
pharmacy, family practice clinics, drug information/marketing,
pediatrics, therapeutic drug monitoring, consulting, community
AIDS groups, and infectious diseases). The resident will
be expected to initiate and complete a research project.
The resident will also have teaching responsibilities for
B.Sc.Phm. / M.Sc. hospital residents and Pharm.D. candidates
doing elective HIV ambulatory rotations.
The primary preceptors
are Alice Tseng, Pharm.D., University Health Network, Assistant
Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy,
University of Toronto, and Nancy Sheehan, B.Pharm, M.Sc.,
McGill University Health Centre, Assistant Clinical Professor,
Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Montréal.
Applicants should possess a Pharm.D. or M.Sc.Phm. degree
(or equivalent experience) and have completed a CSHP- or
ASHP-accredited (PGY1) residency program. The desired starting
date is July-August of each year.
The option to complete a 2 year combined Residency/Master`s
program is also available. Upon completion of this program,
the resident will be awarded both a Specialty Residency Certificate
and a M.Sc.Phm. degree from the University of Toronto.
The annual stipend for the resident is $40 000 Canadian.
