Network Structure
CHAP membership is open to pharmacists involved in HIV practice, research, or teaching. The network structure includes a working group and a general membership of pharmacists. Membership is free, and all pharmacists are welcome to participate in e-mail discussions and attend the annual network meeting. The working group members also function as provincial delegates, and take an active role in communicating and involving their provincial colleagues in CHAP activities Each year, a Chair and Secretary are elected by the membership. They are responsible for coordinating network activities for the year, disseminating information to network members, publishing a network newsletter three times a year, organizing the agenda for the annual meeting, and representing CHAP as necessary with respect to issues that directly or indirectly affect HIV pharmacists in Canada. general membership: any current CHAP member may nominate a colleague for general membership. Requests should be forwarded to the Chair (chap_chair@yahoo.ca), and should include a short CV/resume and complete contact information. Applicants will be added to the group e-mail list (chap_acpv@yahoogroups.com) and the group roster on the private website. working group: each fall, the working group membership will be reassessed (as per the criteria) and updated. If there are vacancies, an open call for interested candidates will be made to the entire CHAP membership. Applicants should submit a short resumé/CV that includes information on their current field of activity, a summary of their accomplishments in the field of HIV, and reasons for wanting to join the working group. Selection will be made by consensus of the working group. Factors taken into account during the selection process will include geographic location, professional focus (e.g., academic vs. clinical vs. research) and accomplishments, and practice population (including specialty areas such as pediatrics, injection drug users, etc). Candidates who are not selected may re-apply in the future.
General members who wish to be considered for membership in the working group should follow the process outlined above in section a). Working group members may request to become general members at any time, if changes in their work environment, time commitments, or other factors prevent them from actively participating in group projects. Working group members who do not actively participate in at least 1 group project within a 2 year period will automatically become general members of CHAP; any exceptions should be submitted in writing to the Chair, and will be considered by the CHAP working group. |
